Twitter is a culture hub filled with constant hilarious commentary and vast ranges of opinions about trending subjects across all topics. The world of Twitter can be brutal at times, almost like a 5th grade classroom with a substitute teacher…just wild. In addition to being pure entertainment and oftentimes informative, over the last couple of years the social media app has also grown into a great place to get a feel for how people are gravitating towards new music. In large part this is because Twitter is filled with hilarious, brutally honest users who will serve it straight up. We love keeping track of the trending songs that keep Twitter interesting. Here’s 4 songs/projects that have Twitter going up right now:
Bryson Tiller - “Inhale”
Bryson Tiller dropped a single paired with a video for the first time in years and Twitter is already crawling with memes about it. Fans have been waiting for Byson to drop another album for a while now and are ecstatic about his new single entitled “Inhale”. The track seems to be getting a lot of positive feedback as many are reacting with positive gifs and emojis. Bryson will also be dropping a new album this fall as he announced at the end of the “Inhale” video.
Teyana Taylor - “Still” (video)
Some fans are disappointed, and some fans are overwhelmed with emotion about Teyana Taylor’s newest music video “Still” where she uses footage of Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, and George Floyd’s murders. Most Twitter timelines are filled with disappointment at the fact that Taylor would “cosplay” victims of police brutality for a video, and it’s being expressed by tweets from disappointed/shocked celebrities as well as through various memes. Some are using Spongebob memes (which have become most popular), some are using Stephen A. Smith memes, and some are completely fine with the video. We love the Twitter dialogue!
Kendrick Lamar - Black Panther: The Album
No surprise that Kendrick Lamar’s “Black Panther: The Album” has resurfaced and taken over twitter timelines as people are reminiscing and grieving over the recent loss of Chadwick Boseman who is widely known for playing Black Panther in Marvel’s famed Black Panther movie. Fans are posting grief-stricken memes of cartoon characters and celebrities crying to encompass them being in their feels over losing such a great actor/cultural influencer. RIP the real Black Panther!
NBA YoungBoy - Top
NBA Youngboy has remained a constant topic on Twitter due to the standing drama over baby mamas and girlfriends, venting videos he’s posted which have gone viral, and of course memes about him as well as his music and fans. However this time Youngboy is the tea of the talk over his upcoming album called “Top.” Lots of people, including celebrities, think he copied/bit off Roddy Ricch’s cover art for his album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial. Roddy Ricch even took to Twitter to say “It’s only ONE Roddy” but still tweeted his support to NBA Youngboy. This debate over both cover arts has people constantly chiming in, which makes for some great marketing for Youngboy. Let’s see how this plays out.
