5 Songs You Might Have Missed From Conway The Machine’s Latest Album

5 Songs From Posted by Yared Gebru 18-09-20

A lyricist with a knack for storytelling, Conway’s words are stained with the wisdom of generations strained through gritted teeth. From King to a God is Conway’s most seasoned project to date. The album features the likes of Dej Loaf, Armani Caesar, and his fellow Griselda labelmates Westside Gun and Benny The Butcher. The 14 track album features production from DJ Premier, Havoc, The Alchemist, Hit-Boy, and more. Here are 5 of our favorite songs from the album.

Fear of God (ft. Dej Loaf)

¨Fear of God¨features the illustrious Dej Loaf, and production from Hit-Boy. Throughout his verse, Conway says, ¨So fuck your top five if it ain´t me, Uh I came a long way from May Street.¨ In this song, Conway disparages critics for not including him in their top five lists.

Juvenile Hell (Ft. Lloyd Banks, Free Lord & Havoc)

Conway enlists Lloyd Banks, Flee Lord, and Havoc for ¨Juvenile Hell.¨ Lloyd Banks snaps with his bars saying, ¨I´m on rivals, embarrass ’em with my calm bravado/My alma mater is smacking´ a ni**a horizontal.¨ The lyrical exercises that the four rappers display here is extraordinary.

Front Lines

The albums lead single, “Front Lines” is inspired by the mass protests across the United States, demanding justice for the murder of George Floyd and Brionna Taylor. It was produced by a long time collaborator, Beat Buthca, who admired Conway’s ability to address the current political climate. Conway digs deeper into the murder of George Floyd in a vividly emotional second verse. Conway wonders what would happen if that were to happen to his son.

Anza ft. Armani Caesar

Conway and Armani Caesar both deliver a show-stopping verse on the song “Anza.” A chiptune type beat produced by Murda Beatz accompanying a fast tempo and lithe melody strays away from the album’s consistent sound.

From King

In this song, Conway expresses gratitude for how far he has come in the music industry. He also sends a shout out to his haters and the people that were unfaithful to him along his journey. He wants to be addressed as a king because he’s confident that he’s one of the best to ever do it. He also expresses that his story is far from finished.
