Making music since 2007, Mac Miller, also known as Delusional Thomas, Easy Mac, Larry Fisherman, Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival, arrived at popularity naturally…No Drake or Jay features, just 6 studio albums and 6 Mixtapes. His sound and styles changed drastically over the course of his career, yet he was still able to maintain the Mac Miller formula– quality music while staying unique. Here is a compilation of some more obscure tracks by Mac that I think slap and could use some more love.
The Festival (feat. Little Dragon)
– GO:OD AM
There are so many artists I want to see collab…I did not know I needed this Little Dragon x Mac collaboration but it is my favorite song off the album even if it isn’t the most popular.
Red Dot Music FT. Action Bronson, Loaded Lux
– Watching Movies With the Sound Off (Deluxe Version)
The production on this song is one of my favorites by Mac, and I just love how he makes Loaded Lux destroy Mac at the end..it reminds me of the roasted shows and its perfect if you’re willing to wait the 6 min song out.
Frick Park Market
– Blue Slide Park
This song came out my Freshmen year and I just liked playing cheesy Mac Raps.. and I loved this beat. I wanna say this was on my warmup playlist for the sport I was in at the time.
America (feat. Casey Veggies & Joey Bada$$)
– Macadelic
Macadellic features so many artists at their peak of rappin’. It’s one of those albums you’ll listen back to and think “this is what the early 2010s were like…” and the songs holds up to this day.
Good Evening
– K.I.D.S.
Sounds like a throwback Bay Area beat. Haven’t heard this song in a long time, got a blast of nostalgia, and it’s one of his earlyiest projects, and his 1st Album as “Mac Miller.”
In the Morning (feat. Syd & Thundercat)
– Live From Space
I think this album goes past most people because it was made while he was on tour with Thundercat and The Internet. But aside from the live recordings there are a few gems in there like this track.
Play Ya Cards
– Best Day Ever
This song sounds like early 2003 Pharrell or Dam-Funk and has a 90s-simplicity inspiration to it.
Programs
– Programs
Another project that Mac released without much publicity, more of a low-key EP. They’re all good songs but this one is my favorite of them all, a perfect driving song.
I Can See
– Circles (Deluxe)
Had to throw in at least 1 new song off the last album. It was hard to choose but hearing Ariana in the background you could feel the peace of this song.
Thumbalina
– Faces
Straight up this is my favorite Mac Miller project of all time. He released this as a mixtape and as “Larry Fisherman” There are so many low key hits off the album but this is one of my favorites because of the intro.
You – Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival
– You
Recently found this Gem of a project while researching and I really dig it..released under his alias “Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival”
