G Herbo Launches Program “Swervin’ Through Stress: Tools to Help Black Youth Navigate Mental Wellness”
It’s no secret that black communities are underserved when it comes to mental health resources. Recently, rapper G Herbo announced his initiative to provide therapy sessions and more mental health services to the black community which he’s calling “Swervin’ Through Stress: Tools to Help Black Youth Navigate Mental Wellness”. According to the Chicago Reader, G Herbo stated the following, “at their age, you never know how critical it can be to have someone to talk to—to have someone help you better yourself and your situation”. Shout out G Herbo for putting together this amazing program for the youth.
Sirius XM & Pandora Launch New Music Chart
Sirius XM and Pandora have launched a new weekly music chart called “The Top Thumb Hundred” dedicated to the top 100 songs that receive thumbs up on the Pandora streaming service. The chart will be updated every Monday according to SXM/Pandora’s Senior VP who stated the following about the new chart, “thumbing activity on Pandora has proven to be a great early indicator of listener affinity and now we can provide a glimpse into that, every Monday”. Roc Nation To Launch New Music, Entertainment & Sports School
Jay-Z and Roc Nation are partnering with Long Island University Brooklyn in order to launch the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment. Enrollment will be open to students starting fall 2021. Majors include Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production, Music, and Sports Management. According to Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, the school’s goal is to “introduce the world to the next generation of unmatched talent”.
Round Hill Music Suing TuneCore For $32 Million Over Copyright Infringement
Music publishing company Round Hill Music has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the music distribution company TuneCore. Round Hill claims that TuneCore has been distributing music through streaming services such as Apple Music, Amazon MP3, and more without the right licenses. Round Hill also stated that TuneCore hasn’t accounted for or paid mechanical royalties to Round Hill concerning 219 music compositions. Round Hill is suing for $32.8 million… let’s see how this ends up playing out.
Megan Thee Stallion & Cardi B’s “WAP” Hits Top 10 On UK Chart
Megan Thee Stallion continues to drop anthems for Hot Girl Summer 2020! Her latest hot collab was with Cardi B on their new single “WAP”. Accompanied by a bright colored and celebrity-filled music video the track was released Friday, August 7th, and is making its way to the top. The single seems to be doing good as it hits the Top Ten on UK charts. Hot Girl Summer is in full effect!
