For Hydration Loop Station, I was focused on exploring the dynamics of water through sound to make beats that fit a certain style. Here are the tracks that I recalled while creating Hydration Loop Station:
Aphex Twin – Donkey Rhubarb: This infectiously upbeat dance track balances a pretty lead alongside abstract percussion with a flurry of bubbles sprinkled in.
Ryuichi Sakamoto – Thousand Knives: I don’t know how many playlists I put this song in, but it’s for a reason. The unique bossa nova drums on this track can not not have you moving. If you can make it through without busting a move, I would be concerned.
Daft Punk – Something About Us: Yes I understand there is nothing that implies this song has water…but do you hear that bassline? The movement? The Tambre? It sounds mighty watery to me.
JPEGMAFIA – Panic Emoji: This one is for the nitpickers; actual water! I really dig the way water feels unpredicatble, constantly changing in volume and in pitch. It also sounds low quality and I am a sucker for that.
Tyler The Creator – Juggernaut (Feat. Lil Uzi Vert and Pharell): This song is too hard as is and then you get Hit by a flurry of synth bubbles. The use of this percussion is similar to those in Donkey Rhubarb but these are more fierce, fitting the tone of the track.
