“Foolish of Me (feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn)” -Seven Lions, Jason Ross, Crystal Skies
In this heartfelt track about love gone wrong, our artists create a somber atmosphere that connects us to our singers’ emotions. The result is a bittersweet release of tension when the bass drops and the feelings of love and sadness collide.
“Photograph (feat. Claudia Bouvette)” – Kai Wachi
In this next track, Kai Wachi creates a nostalgic vibe for us to ride to as an unnamed vocalist reminds us what it feels like to be unsure if our new crush does or does not share our same feelings and we wonder if we will ever talk or see them again.
“Dreaming (feat. Luma)”-Last Heroe
“Dreaming” opens by taking us through a lush soundscape that feels very much like we are falling deeper and deeper into our wildest dreams before we crash into the sea of the dream world. Luma guides us through this wonderland with her beautiful ballad-like vocals building anticipation and tension leading to the drop.
“Comet (Ft. Slyleaf)” – Paper Skies
In this track, Paper Skies and Slyleaf show us how powerful a strong melody can be when coupled with bright chords, intimate vocals, and a dash of an aggressive bassline. I also love this song because the lyrics really remind us that we can achieve greatness if we get out of our own way.
“Blood (Ft. Foy Vance)” – Illenium
I chose “Blood” to be on this list because of the way Illenium accompanies his somber guitar loop with cinematic atmospheres. Foy Vance also adds depth to this track by filling these atmospheres with his strong vocal presence and allowing us to feel the emotions of the track.
“Always in a Nightmare” – Au5 & Nytrix
This track is another one of my favorites on the list because of Au5’s unique cerebral sound design and Nytrix’ authentic vocals. Together they take us through this journey of light and dark that adds to the cinematic feel of the track.
“Misery” – Venus Theory
We slow things down a bit with this chill step track by Venus Theory. Here we really catch a vibe the way his pads swell in and out of the track allowing the bass to follow suit providing a lot of mellow movement in the track.
“Angst” – INZO
Inzo’s music is always a must-listen for its lush atmospheres and heavy synths. In this track, he hits the nail right on the head by describing what people with severe anxiety experience in their lives through music.
“2U” – Bad Computer
In “2U” Bad Computer opens the track with a euphoric atmosphere that leads you into the mind of a .. well .. a bad computer. His use of dirty synth accompanied by light-hearted melodies and vocal chops create a well-balanced track full of energy.
“We’re Here (ft. Azuria Sky)” – Rusherz
To finish off this playlist I bring you “We’re Here”, a track that opens with a very washed-out pad that provides a nice spatial element to the track before. It smacks you in the face with beautiful chords, a bright lead, and a nice filthy, yet so clean reese bass.
