When I was thinking about what I should make for this sound pack, I thought I should go out of my comfort zone. So, I decided to take it upon myself to attempt making loops centered around the hyper-pop genre, a subgenre of pop and electro with added elements of trap and hip-hop. The songs on this list are all classified as hyper-pop music and relate to my pack in various ways. One key way is the melody, as that is what my loop is based around. The melodies share a sort of virtual/digital feel to them, making the overall songs have a more interesting bounce. Check out all the songs on the list and make you follow along with the Type Beat Challenge on IG!
Lil Uzi Vert – “Venetia (prod. Brandon Finessin)”
Like most of Brandon Finessin’s beats, this song has a sort of cloudy/spacey vibe to it, which is similar to my sound pack.
Playboi Carti – “@ MEH (prod. JetsonMade)”
This song incorporates a very “playful” type melody to it, which is similar to many loops on my sound pack. These give the artist a lot of room to vocalize.
Ecco2k, Thaiboy Digital, Bladee – “Western Union (prod. Whitearmor)”
Ecco2k, Thaiboy Digital, and Bladee from the rap group “Drain Gang” combine on this track that features a sort of virtual beat with tuned up 808s and a prominent countermelody, something often found on my loops.
Bladee – “Be Nice 2 Me (prod. RipSquad)”
Another virtual beat with a sort of random sounds thrown in to emphasize the melody. The counter-melody also contributes to how the overall sound feels.
Yung Lean – “Pikachu (prod. Whitearmor)”
With a sort of synthy feel, this song gives off slower trap/hyper pop vibes.
Eric Doa – “movinglikeazombie (prod. Karasu & odece)”
This song features a more 100gecs vibe with higher and bit-crushed vocals mixed with a hard-hitting virtual beat, tying in the hyper pop atmosphere.
midwxst – “Threefaced (prod. blackwinterwells)”
This song takes on many forms as there is a beat switch halfway through. It radiates a digital/pop feel with elements of trap thrown in.
i9bonsai, blackwinterwells, 8485 – “mixd up (prod. angelus, Alice Gas, Ginseng)”
This song really takes the 100gecs approach with the pitched-up vocals to the next level, and assists it by throwing in a high pitched 808 on a sporadic melody, helping the hyper pop feel.
Rico Nasty – “IPHONE (prod. Dylan Brady)”
A hard-hitting bass and aggressive vocals are one take on hyper pop music, and Rico Nasty does it well. The melody gives room for the drums to shine and incorporates a counter melody, something found on my loops.
Charli XCX – “claws (prod. Dylan Brady)”
Charli XCX takes the pop in hyper pop to the next level and incorporates more pop aspects into her music. This song, for example, features a more pop-ish drum pattern with glitchy vocals, adding to the hyper pop flare.
