I chose these songs for my Jagged Trap High-Hat inspo playlist because they all fit into the vibe I curated with my beat pack, as well as resemble elements I always include in my style of producing. Each song has the trap/drill high hat type vibe in some way. Hi-Hats are usually what make the bounce of the beat along with the claps and kick, and these songs demonstrate those elements. They also provide the listener with a similar ethereal/aesthetic feeling and take you somewhere else while listening. Check it out and grab the Spotify or YouTube playlist at the bottom of the post!
1. Pop Smoke – “Bad Bitch From Tokyo”
This song really embodies the trap/drill high hat feeling. This song is one of the best-produced drill songs in my opinion.
2. Asap Rocky – “Buck Shots”
Buck Shots has really dirty hat sounds similar to the kit I curated. It has a rugged trap/rock vibe and other elements that make it a must listen for inspiration for my Type Beat challenge .
3. Kilo – “Its Cool (prod. by Amari Augst)”
Shameless plug alert! This song was produced by me, so it clearly falls into the trap hi-hat category. It has the trap flow that I mostly use in my trap beats.
4. Swae Lee – “Reality Check”
This song’s beat is very similar to some of mine. The spacey, melody-type vibe along with the reverbed high-hat rolls take the listener on a ride.
5. James Blake – “Mile High”
The high-hat rolls in this beat add a lot more emotion to the beat. They almost blend into the melody.
6. UnoTheActivist – “Aye Yai Yai”
This is a slowed down more mellow type of beat. The drums don’t fully come in until half way through the song on some Phil Collins hype. It has laid back and softer high hats that make the song feel less intense.
7. Bktharula – “Summer”
This beat reminds me a lot of when I first started producing. The drums speak to each other in a bouncy way. Particularly the high-hats and 808.
8. Yung Bans – “TIK TIK TIK”
This song has a normal high-hat pattern along with some rolls every now and then. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make a hard beat!
9. BigTreeSteve – “I Don’t Sleep”
Another song produced by me to give you some inspo! It has a lighter, slowed down trap high hat pattern that I like to use.
10. Playboi Carti – “@ MEH”
The original trap sound that was made very popular by Carti. I like the vibe of this beat because it has a heavy bounce mixed with light melodies.
