Here we are again for another playlist that is an introspection on yours truly and what songs influenced me the most for my soundpack Experimental Computer Sounds. It contains songs that give off a unique quality that I haven’t perceived until I came across these tracks and have made me shifted my music style time and time again.
Earl Sweatshirt – Red Water: This concise track has an obscured sample permeating throughout it with Earl delivering a relentless flow that compliments the beat masterfully.
Kanye West – On Sight: This jarring track is a perfect example of breaking new grounds. A distorted beat with an equally upfront Kanye keeps the listener on their toes.
Playboi Carti – The Omen: This haunting banger uses a synth lead that is as unique as i is haunting and Ca$h Carti does his thing per usual.
JPEGMAFIA – Williamsburg: This track is packed to the brim with obscured samples that morph as the song progresses. The mp3 compression used on the Travis Scott sample gives me “goosebumps every time”, try to catch it!
Shawty Pimp – KICKIN’ PIMPIN’ (feat. Reddog): Back when lo-fi wasn’t a genre of music and instead a quality attributed to particular artists. This track has a soulful sample throughout the track with classic 808 drums being tossed in the mix. What’s better than this?
Thouxanbanfauni – Surfin’: The amount of ambience within this track and its sample is insane! Truly a hidden gem that inspires.
Three Six Mafia – Funkytown: Speaking of influence, who does it better than the three six? True innovators and this song is one example of it with its dark almost offensive lead and bouncy drums.
MIKE & JADASEA – REGRETS: Nothing short of brilliant with a beat that exemplifies experimentation and grimey flows that compliment the beat to a tee.
Burial – Archangel: The hypnotizing drums, haunting atmosphere and the Ray J sample all combine to give an ambience like none other; a master at work.
0428 – LOVE-03: Keeping the momentum with the instrumental this one has a bounce like none other and synths galore throughout. Don’t get me started on the beat switch!
Yabujin – 。✰302?ionwan2go✰。: Giving us mid-200s rave this track throws you back to a rave that has almost escaped your memories. The accentuation of certain frequencies evokes a certain nostalgia like none other.
Aphex Twin – Windowlicker: Last but certainly not least, I’m ending this playlist with one of the greatest electronic produces to do it. This song has it all, with a catchy chorus/hook and heavily distorted breakdowns. This song has something for any type of listener.
