When it comes to Rap&HipHop in 2020 – Trap is King.
With my Mellow Trap Samples Soundpack I wanted to bridge the gap between old heads and the new school. The evolution of rap has brought us here – to an infusion of grimey gritty sounds and soft angelic tones.
I have curated an inspo playlist to go along with the Soundpack and keep those creative vibes going. The songs I chose remind me of the samples I used in my Soundpack and where you could possibly take them. The loops are diverse enough to try boom-bap and/or trap.

Pivot Gang – “Hero”
This Hypnotic loop with thick drums keeps the pace up and stands out among the rest.
SiR- “John Redcorn”
What stands out to me is the laid back feeling of this track, the guitar is soothing with a trap twist to make it a perfect driving record.
J.I.D – “D/vision ft. Earthgang”
Serious loops with a hybrid of of trap and lofi drums. Perfect combo for J.I.D.’s acrobatic lyrics.
Isaiah Rashad – “Free Lunch”
The jazzy sample with trap drums gives us a classic record we love from Mr. Rashad.
J. Cole- “1985”
Cole gives us a blend of 90’s style sample selection & new age drums with a boom-bap placement.
Ovrkast-“Face”
OvrKast brings the angelic sample in with a boom bap trap twist on the drums!
Bas-“Tribe”
This track is very trap and mellow. It makes you turn up and sit back at the same time.
Future- “Last Name (Lil Durk)”
Very mellow piano sample with trap drums that feel right for this Lil Durk collaboration.
Kodak Black – “Malcolm X.X.X”
The sample has a great texture with drums that hit very hard. Kodak wanted to say something on this track – from the Malcolm X samples to him talking about the young artist XXX.
Lil Wayne-“Took His Time”
The sample makes you think. It takes you back with some explosive drums that ground you. On this track Wayne expresses the importance of self esteem and self care.
